Stellar evolution confronts axion models

چکیده

Abstract Axion production from astrophysical bodies is a topic in continuous development, because of theoretical progress the estimate stellar emission rates and, especially, improved observations. We carry out comprehensive analysis most informative astrophysics data, revisiting bounds on axion couplings to photons, nucleons and electrons, reassessing significance various hints anomalous energy losses. confront performance constructions accounting for these hints, while complying with observational limits couplings. identify favorable models, regions mass/couplings parameter space which are preferred by global fit. Finally, we scrutinize discovery potential such models at upcoming helioscopes, namely IAXO its scaled versions.

Stellar-Evolution Limits on Axion Properties

If axions exist, they are copiously produced in hot and dense plasmas, carrying away energy directly from the interior of stars. Various astronomical observables constrain the operation of such anomalous stellar energy-loss channels and thus provide restrictive limits on the axion interactions with photons, nucleons, and electrons. In typical axion models a limit ma < ∼ 10 eV is implied. The ma...

Chemical element transport in stellar evolution models

Stellar evolution computations provide the foundation of several methods applied to study the evolutionary properties of stars and stellar populations, both Galactic and extragalactic. The accuracy of the results obtained with these techniques is linked to the accuracy of the stellar models, and in this context the correct treatment of the transport of chemical elements is crucial. Unfortunatel...

Axion-photon couplings in invisible axion models.

We reexamine the axion-photon couplings in various invisible axion models motivated by the recent proposal of using optical interferometry at the ASST facility in the SSCL to search for axion. We illustrate that the assignment of U(1)PQ charges for the fermion fields plays an important role in determining the couplings. Several simple non-minimal invisible axion models with suppressed and enhan...

Grids of stellar evolution models for asteroseismology

In this paper we present a grid of stellar evolution models, computed with an up-to-date physical description of the internal structure, using the Code d’Évolution Stellaire Adaptatif et Modulaire (CESAM). The evolutionary sequences span from the pre-main sequence to the beginning of the Red Giant Branch and cover an interval of mass typical for low and intermediate mass stars. The chemical com...

Uncertainties and Systematics in Stellar Evolution Models

In this last decade, our knowledge of evolutionary and structural properties of stars of different mass and chemical composition is significantly improved. This result has been achieved as a consequence of our improved capability in understanding and describing the physical behavior of stellar matter in the different thermal regimes characteristic of the different stellar mass ranges and/or evo...
